Overview
The Credential Self-Help feature allows a dealer or administrator to reduce end-user requests to them regarding ProdataKey app credentials being lost or deleted by allowing them to request replacement credentials through the app. For information about requesting replacement credentials, please refer to the My ProdataKey app credential no longer works. How do I fix this? article.
By default, any Customer Accounts and/or Cloud Nodes created/added after April 30, 2023 will have the 'Bluetooth and Mobile Credentials Self-Help' option enabled by default for the Customer Account and any Cloud Nodes added to the Account.
For existing Customers Accounts and/or Cloud Nodes created/added before April 30th, 2023, you will need to enable the feature at both the Customer Account level and the Cloud Node level in order to allow the use of this feature.
For information regarding enabling or disabling the 'Bluetooth and Mobile Credentials Self-Help' option, please refer to the 'Enabling/Disabling Credential Self-Help for a Customer Account' section
For information regarding enabling or disabling the 'Allow users to request replacement...' option, please refer to the 'Enabling/Disabling Credential Self-Help for a Cloud Node' section
Setup
By default, any Cloud Nodes added to a Customer Account after April 30, 2023, will have the 'Allow users to request replacement Bluetooth and/or Mobile Credentials from within the ProdataKey mobile app' option enabled by default.
If the 'Allow users to request replacement...' option is enabled, you are able to adjust the number of times that a User can request Replacement Credentials per month before the user is required to contact the Cloud Node Manager or Administrator to reset the restrictions on requesting replacement credentials. The monthly request limit is selected from 'Max. Monthly Reset Requests' dropdown.
Credential Self-Help Restriction
If an end-user has performed more monthly requests for Replacement Credentials than allowed, you can reset the Replacement Restriction by first tapping or clicking on the Person in People. Then tap or click on the kabob (three vertical dots) to open the list of options, then tap or click 'Credential Self-Help Restrictions'.
After clicking the 'Credential Self-Help Restrictions' option, a dialog window showing any ProdataKey App credentials assigned to the Person will be displayed. If Replacement Credentials have been requested, they will be shown here. Tapping or clicking either the garbage can icon next to a credential restriction line to clear that restriction or the 'Clear All' button to clear all credential restrictions on the Person.
Enabling/Disabling Credential Self-Help for a Customer Account
To enable or disable Credential Self-Help on a Customer Account, you will need to either tap and hold the Customer Account name in the ProdataKey app or mouse over the name on the PDK.io site to display the pencil icon, allowing you to change various options for the entire customer account, including the 'Bluetooth and Mobile Credentials Self-Help' option. Enabling this option will allow access while disabling this option will remove access to this feature on Cloud Nodes on the Customer Account.
Enabling/Disabling Credential Self-Help for a Cloud Node
To enable or disable 'Allow users to request replacement Bluetooth and/or Mobile Credentials from within the ProdataKey mobile app' for Cloud Nodes in Customer Accounts where the option 'Bluetooth and Mobile Credentials Self-Help' is enabled, you will need to either tap and hold the Cloud Node name in the ProdataKey app or mouse-over the name on the PDK.io site to display the pencil icon, and enable/disable the 'Allow users to request replacement...' option for this feature.
