White labeling is when a product or service produced by one company removes its brand and logo from the product, and instead of using their own brand, uses the branding requested by the purchaser to make it appear as if they had made it. The terms white label and private label can be used interchangeably.
The information that follows provides the necessary requirements for white labeling the touch App product from pdk.
Required Resources
-
Text of the white labeled app name.
-
Text of the company name.
-
The email address that credential invitations should have in their "from" field.
-
The name associated with the email address in #1.
-
“App brand logo” (400x184 pixels) to be displayed at the top of the email.
-
“Company logo” (235x144 pixels) to be displayed in the footer of the email.
-
An SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) application logo file. If an SVG file cannot be provided, the following Android / Apple iOS icon image sizes are required. Images are displayed on the user’s device and in the credential email. (See the example icon image on page 3.) The SVG icon file should be adaptive to change its shape properly depending on the phone’s settings, which adds additional restrictions for the icon’s format.
NOTE: SVG icon files are the preferred option in which the necessary file sizes can be generated by the developers and scaled to the required size.
Android - Each icon should have a transparent area, and the actual image should be placed at the center. If you are unable to provide an SVG file, then provide each of the file sizes listed below.
- 108×108 full size, 72×72 actual icon size
- 162×162 full size, 108×108 actual icon size
- 216×216 full size, 144×144 actual icon size
- 324×324 full size, 216×216 actual icon size
- 432×432 full size, 288×288 actual icon size
Apple iOS - There is no need to have a transparent area for iOS icons, so the actual icon size will be specified. If you are unable to provide an SVG file, then provide each of the file sizes listed below.

App Splash image - This is the graphic image that appears when the app launches. Only a static image is supported; an animation is not supported.
SUGGESTION: PNG files allow you to render images with millions of colors and also offer the ability for preserving transparency when needed.
Shown here are the Samurai Security sample splash screen and app icon images.

Hosting Options
-
If the customer wants pdk to host and manage the app, ProdataKey provides the setup and payment for developer accounts, manages the roll-outs for updates and new releases of the app, and posts the app to Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store where the app can be downloaded for use.
- If the customer decides to host and maintain these app requirements, pdk will send the following two files:
.apk - for Android devices
.ipa - for iOS devices
Then, at this point, the customer will handle all of these app requirements on their own.
Selecting and Enabling a White Label Theme
Product Theme Option - A white-label branding theme is available from the pdk io application.
![]() |
Prior to a customer being able to select a product theme for their version of the touch app, the theme option must first be turned on at the top OU (Root) level by pdk. |
![]() |
Once this option is turned on by pdk, click on the Customer edit icon beneath the Customers section of the System screen (where the Cloud Nodes and Permissions sections are shown). |
![]() |
In the Edit Customer screen, select a theme from the Theme drop-down menu. In the Theme field, Default is shown. Click SAVE to use the Default option or click inside the Theme drop-down menu to select the Samurai Security example theme. Click SAVE. This determines whether users will be downloading the Samurai Security (example) app or the pdk touch app. |
