Once the touch App is installed and a credential is accepted on the smart device, the smart device does not need to be online. The cloud service is only used to manage and distribute credentials. If a user is in an elevator or basement where mobile service may not work, the touch App still works. It is not dependent on being connected to mobile, the Internet, or Wi-Fi service. Internet access is only needed to accept the credentials that have been issued and download the touch App. Once accepted, credentials are securely stored on the smart device; there is no further need for an Internet connection.
